Children who foster

East Sussex Foster Care Association (ESFCA) is a registered charity, which supports children in care, foster carers and their families.

Fostering is very heavily bound by confidentiality in order to protect children in care. However, that also means that the biological children in the household, cannot talk to their friends about some of the difficult issues that they often have to live with, including disclosures of abuse, violence and aggression, stealing and challenging behaviour.

These children share their homes, families, belongings, time and energy, with children in the care system. They play an important, and often unrecognised, role in helping children in care recover from often abusing situations. These young people, who foster, are often the role models for many of the children living in foster homes.

We worked with ESFCA to make a photographic DVD, which enabled this group of children and young people, to have a voice and highlight the work they do to others.
